Robin Hemingway la leggenda...Daddy Hemingway special guest al Quasimodo di Berlino con i Funky Soul Kitchen. Ripenso al caso mentre cammino in KantStrasse per raggiungere il Paris Bar, il piccolo bistrot  in cui Daddy ha deciso d'incontrarmi per concedermi un'intervista. Berlino è fredda di questi tempi: 8 gradi di puro gelo che ti entrano nelle ossa...provo a riscaldarmi camminando di corsa...la memoria della grande mela è ancora intatta ma  nella europea Berlino, dove tutti lavorano incessantemente, mi sento osservata. La gente mi guarda come se fossi una scheggia impazzita, "sicuramente italiana o spagnola" sembrano pensare: le mie emozioni trapelano e mal si conciliano con la teutonica freddezza del tedesco medio. Berlino, la città- stato della Repubblica Federale di Germania, centro nevralgico d'Europa dal punto di vista  politico, culturale, scientifico e mediatico...Berlino, la città della caduta del muro:  si respira ancora la tristezza dell'intensa atmosfera postbellica e  i meravigliosi graffiti  che tappezzano i palazzi e le strade, esprimono  la voglia di progresso sociale di questa capitale europea in continuo divenire.

Il Paris Bar mi avvolge con i suoi profumi...la cucina francese sprigiona degli aromi che invitano ad un assaggio ma è abbondantemente passata l’ora del pranzo per cui decido di aspettare Daddy che arriva un’ora più tardi dell’appuntamento stabilito, come si addice ad una grande star. E’ un uomo robusto avvolto in un cappotto nero, con un basco, un paio di occhiali scuri ed una sigaretta d’ordinanza che preferisce tamburellare tra le dita piuttosto che fumare.

E’ una star di altri tempi, dal sorriso contagioso e i modi da gentiluomo: mi disarma chiedendo scusa per il ritardo e sfilando dalla giacca il palmo  si esibisce in un perfetto baciamano. Mi racconta della sua musica,” il suo sangue”, delle sue collaborazioni con i Beatles e i Rolling Stones , della sua passione per la musica italiana,del cibo...Un’ora in compagnia di un grande artista che improvvisamente si scioglie cantandomi “Caruso” .... *Lo spettacolo a cui ho assistito ieri sera al Quasimodo di Berlino mi ha catapultato in una dimensione musicale così distante dagli attuali standards musicali per cui ho pensato che forse per la “buona musica” c’è ancora speranza. Che cosa ne pensi dell’ attuale scenario musicale Europeo?

La scena pop europea, dal  Rock & Roll inglese attraverso il Rhythm & BluesFrancese e il Tedesco hip - hop e techno , ha sempre trovato un modo per penetrare le classifiche americane e influenzare i nostri cantautori , i cantanti e le  bands .

*Dalla tua biografia, ho letto che la passione per la musica è nata quando eri molto piccolo...da quali cantanti hai tratto ispirazione

Otis Redding, T-Bone Walker, Billie Holiday, Carlos Gardel, Howlin' Wolf, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin

*Cantante, musicista, produttore discografico e arrangiatore….in quail di queste vesti ti senti più a tuo agio?

In tutti quelli che ricopro nello stesso momento in cui li sto svolgendo

*Parliamo dei tuoi attuali progetti musicali. So che sei impegnato in svariate bands. Quali sono i musicisti con cui collabori  e che genere di musica suonate?

La BLACKRIDERS ORCHESTRAvaria da un gruppo di 35 persone con violini a una piccolo gruppo  di 8 persone . Noi suoniamo tutte le sfaccettature del Blues . NERO KAMIKAZE è una band Rock a Billy Blues in piccolo (4 ,5, 6 persone me compreso). BAD BITCHES CLUB è un ‘unità eclettica un passo avanti a tutti. Andiamo dal Blues al soul vecchia scuola, dalle canzoni francesi a " Caruso " di Lucio Dalla.

*Per i lettori del Magazine ho ascoltato il tuo lavoro “Black Kamikaze”del 2010. Ho trovato eccezionale l’ interpretazione di Summertime e Dalai Lama mi ha conquistata. Parlami del concept dell’album

Il concept del cd " NERO KAMIKAZE 2010 " si fonda su sfumature politiche ed emotive : la gioia e il dolore , l'ingiustizia per l'uomo , gli schiavi impegnati nei campi di cotone , una donna o un uomo che abbandonano la casa ...

*A quando i tuoi prossimi impegni live?

*Mi hai detto di essere stato in Italia qualche anno fa. Cosa ti ha colpito della nostra musica e con quali artisti hai avuto modo di confrontarti?

Amo il Rock & Roll italiano ( per me Lucio Dalla ha scritto alcune delle migliori canzoni Rock & Rollche sono in circolazione) , la musica di Pino Daniele , le opere di Puccini , l' “atmosfera”di Vivaldi e la voce di Pavarotti.

Robin Hemingway the legend ...Daddy Hemingway  a special guest at the Quasimodo inBerlinwith the Funky Soul Kitchen. If I think back to when I walk in KANTSTRASSE to reach the Paris Bar , the little bistro where Daddy decided to meet me to give me an interview. Berlin is cold these days : 8 degrees of pure ice that you enter in the bones ... I try to warm up by walking race ... the memory of the Big Apple is still intact but the European Berlin, where everyone works ceaselessly , I feel observed . People look at me like I was a loose cannon , " definitely Italian or Spanish" seem to think my emotions leak out and are difficult to reconcile with the Teutonic coldness of the average German . Berlin, the city-states of the Federal Republic of Germany , the heart of Europe in terms of political, cultural, scientific and media ... Berlin , the city of the fall of the wall : you can still feel the sadness of the intense atmosphere of post-war and the wonderful graffiti that adorn palaces and streets, expressing the desire for social progress of this European capital in constant evolution.

The Paris Bar surrounds me with its scents ... French cuisine exudes aromas that invite you to a tasting but it is abundantly past lunch time so I decided to wait for Daddy to arrive an hour later established the appointment, as befits a big star. It 'a large man wrapped in a black coat, with a beret, a pair of dark sunglasses and a cigarette in order that prefers drumming between the fingers rather than smoke.He’s a star of yesteryear, from infectious smile and ways to gentleman: disarms me apologizing for the delay and pulling the jacket palm performs in a perfect kiss. He tells me of his music, "his blood" of his collaborations with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, his passion for Italian music, food ... An hour in the company of a great artist who suddenly melts singing “Caruso”…

*The show that I attended the last night in Berlin at the Quasimodo, I was catapulted into a musical dimension so far by the current musical standards I thought that maybe for the "good music" there is still hope. What do you think of the European music scene?

The European pop scene, from English Rock & Roll through to French Rhythm & Blues & German hip-hop & Techno, has always found a way to penetrate the American charts and influence our songwriters, singers & bands.

*From your biography I read that the passion for the music is coming when you was very young... tell me what singers have drawn inspiration

Whichever one I'm doing at the time I'm doing it

* We talk about your current musical projects.I know that you are engaged in a variety of bands.With such musicians and what kind of music you play? BLACKRIDERS ORCHESTRA varies from a 35 pc unit with strings to a small 8pc band. We play all facets of the Blues. BLACK KAMIKAZE is a small 4, 5 sometimes 6 pc unit /with me) Rock a Billy Blues unit. BAD BITCHES CLUB is a breakthrough all barriers, eclectic unit. We go from Blues to Old School Soul to French chansons & Lucio Dalla's "Caruso"

*For readers of the Megamodo Magazine, I listened to your work of 2010 "Black" kamikaze ".The interpretation of Summertime I find sublime and "Dalai Lama" conquered me. Speak to me of the concept of the album

The concept of the cd "BLACK KAMIKAZE2010" is one of political and emotional shadings, joy & sorrow, injustice to Man, slaves picking cotton, a woman or a man leaving home...

*What are your upcoming events live? To be announced! 

 You’ve told me that you  have been in Italy some years ago ...What struck you about our music and artists you've got to face? I love Italian Rock & Roll (for me Lucio Dalla wrote some of the  finest Rock & Roll around), love the music of Pino Daniele, the operas of Puccini, the 'atmosphere' of Vivaldi, the voice of Pavarotti
